Samburu National Reserve is located on the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro river in Kenya; on the other side of the river is the Buffalo Springs National Reserve.

It is 104 km² in size and 350 kilometers from Nairobi. Geographically, it is located in Samburu District of the Rift Valley Province.

Samburu National Reserve is located north of Nairobi, and was established in the 1970's.

Samburu Reserve is 40 square miles in size; temperature during the day is hot, but tends to cool during the night

Samburu National Reserve is very peaceful and attracts animals because of River Uaso Nyiro (meaning "brown water) that runs through it and the mixture of acacia, riverine forest, thorn trees and grass vegetation.

The natural serenity that is evident here is due to its distance from industries and the inaccessibility of the reserve for many years.

There is a wide variety of animal and bird life seen at Samburu National Reserve including:Grevy's Zebra,Beisa Oryx,Reticulated Giraffe,Somali Ostrich.

Other mammals frequently seen in the park include:
African Elephant,Lion,Cheetah,Gerenuk,African Buffalo,Grant's Gazelle,Kirk's Dik-dik,Impala,Waterbuck,African Leopard.

There are over 350 species of bird.

The Uaso Nyiro River contains large numbers of Nile crocodile.

Camp - Samburu

Day 01 : Nairobi - Samburu
When you arrive at Jomo-kenyatta international airport Nairobi Kenya,you will be welcomed by our company representative who will be holding a placard reading your names for you to recognise him/her.

Drive through the coffee and pineapple plantations in central Kenya crossing the equator at Nanyuki and mount Kenya to Samburu national Park having picnic Lunch enroute.

After lunch, proceed to samburu arriving early evening/late afternoon game drive. Samburu is home to the Samburu tribe and many species of wildlife not found in other parts of East Africa. Grevy's zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Beisa Oryx, long necked Gerenuk along with cheetah, Elephant, Monkeys and numerous birds are just a few of the species Samburu is famous for.

The life-giving Uaso Nyiro river flows through the reserve providing a lush oasis where elephants and other wildlife come to drink.

Day 02: Samburu
This morning you will be awakened early and after some coffee or tea and biscuits, depart at dawn on an early morning game drive. After your drive you will return to camp for breakfast and then on a late morning game drive. After lunch and time to relax and do some serious bird-watching, you will depart on a late afternoon game drive when again the light is prefect for photography. Return to the camp early evening in time for drinks around the fire and dinner. Overnight at Samburu camp.

Day 03 : Samburu - Nairobi
At 0630 hrs. early morning game drive before breakfast; after breakfast, we return to Nairobi with picnic lunch enroute. You will arrive Nairobi early evening.

Private camping safari for 2-3 people = US $ 525 per person sharing a tent. A private safari van to be shared between 2 people

Above 4 people US $ 450 per person sharing. Safari van to be shared between 4 to7 people.
